Paddling on a kayak along the Antarctic Penisulla its common to encounter masses of small pieces of ice, known as 'brash'.
The first time you strike a brash field the reaction is always to paddle around it. But then when you have no choice you paddle through it.
The second time you find a brash field you head straight for it. The bashing and crashing through these small pieces (less than 1m) becomes something to look forward to!
