I love exploring the Otways and our coastline, and sometimes I find a gem - a place that makes me wonder why I've never seen it before. Whilst exploring the coastline near Rutledge Creek (close to Loch Ard Gorge), I came across a small, totally unexpected waterfall. Perhaps 4m at its tallest, the water flows directly into the ocean. In fact, as I stood watching, the tide was rushing up and covering the lower portions of the falls.
There is something soothing about a small waterfall. Perhaps it’s the way the water winds its way along, finding the path of least resistance until it reaches the end of the line. This one is different, unusually the waterfall is the end of the line - offering one final surge to the freedom. It makes me think what is better, taking the slow road and ending with a dramatic exit, or going at a rush along the way and petering out at the end?
