A Beautiful Decay_4861.jpg
Large landscapes often capture our attention, but for the majority of people upon entering them the beauty of the small parts is often lost. For new photographers, the ability to ‘see’ is a skill that is often harder skill to learn than the ability to capture. And one that many people struggle to master.
On a small stump, less than a half a metre tall, in amongst the imposing Californian Redwoods near Beech Forrest I spotted this cluster of the most exquisite fungi. Captured as 5 individual parts and stacked to into one, the naturally shallow depth of field was overcome. With the resulting stacked image becoming the basis upon which this work was created.
